Walk the South Downs - we offer maps of some the best routes from the house. There are also countless public footpaths to follow right from the doorstep of The Lookout Retreat.

Whether it’s swimming in the sea at Saltdean Beach, wild swimming at Hope Gap or the river in Piddinghoe; there’s plenty of choices to enjoy the benefits of getting into water. accessible from the retreat.

The House and Garden
The spacious, detached family house is perfect for socialising and chilling out, including a comfortable lounge, four bedrooms and a bright, warm kitchen. The lounge has a high end, large projector and Bose surround sound speakers, ideal for movie nights or listening to music. Two sets of sliding glass doors look out and lead onto the gorgeous garden and like most of the rooms, provides unbeatable views of the surrounding nature. The large island kitchen benefits from underfloor heating, a super comfy sofa and all the essentials to make your stay a home from home, including a coffee maker, a blender, a juicer, an American fridge with an ice machine, a microwave, a dishwasher, washing machines and dryers. *please note, there is a security camera on the gate, the front door and the garden (there are no cameras inside the house).
The Dining Area
Our beautiful dining area comfortably seats up to 24 guests with built-in tables and benches, all set beneath soft fairy lights. Conveniently located next to the kitchen, it offers a spacious and inviting indoor space for shared meals and group gatherings.
The Hot Tub and Cold Plunge
With some of the most stunning views of the Retreat and Sussex, the hot tub and the cold plunge (spring and summer only) are West facing, making them the prime spot to look at the stunning views and watch beautiful sunsets. Relax and rejuvenate with friends and family and soak up the views.
The Outdoor Seating Area
Fitted with outdoor heaters, four six seater benches, a waterproof bamboo roof and atmospheric pontoon lights, our outdoor seating area provides a beautiful space for Al Fresco dining, hanging out with a few beers and watching the sunset in the distance. Seating up to 24 people, our catering teams can set the table for an occasion and we welcome the area to be decorated with environmentally friendly decorations.
The View Cabin
The bespoke View Cabin is one of a kind. It has one of the most incredible views in Sussex and includes a dining space with a gorgeous hand-crafted kitchen, a chill out lounge space with a wood burner and the sofa doubles up as an optional sofa bed. This space also has a self contained shower room & WC. Adjacent to the main cabin is a romantic private bedroom cabin with a King size bed and clothes storage, looking out onto the stunning countryside.
The Sleeper Cabin
The cosy, beautiful, private bedroom sleeper cabin comes fit with an extremely comfortable king size bed and clothes storage space. With windows looking out onto the valley below, wake up to gorgeous views and sleep peacefully in this little area of paradise. Adjacent to the cabin, there is a self contained shower room & two WCs, as well as the bathroom in the main View Cabin.
Luxury Bell Tent
Our 5m luxury bell tent is truly stunning, offering unique and cosy space to sleep. With luxury mattresses, accompanied by bedside tables, lamps, rugs and throws, the bell tent sleeps up to four people. Looking out onto the of the valley below, it has one of the best views in the retreat.

Tiered Seating Area
Our unique, handmade, natural tiered seating area is one of our most valued creation to date. Built beautifully into the land with a natural raised stage and seating, the tiered seating area is the perfect setting to enjoy the views and gather with friends and family. The views looking out to the South Downs National Park valley below are stunning.; it is truly one of a kind.
The Fire Pit
Located down by the bell tent and cabins, the fire pit is the ideal place to end the day with amazing views of the sunset.

We have a few booking options ranging from accommodation for groups of 8 - 24 people maximum.

All accommodation options include exclusive use of the hot tub, cold plunge, garden, BBQ (we provide gas) and fire pit (we provide wood). All accommodations include bedding and towels. We also have a fully equipped kitchen, as well as teas, coffee, herbs and spices.

We offer 1 night minimum stays on selected weekdays and over weekends it is a 2 night minimum stay.

We welcome families with children. There is a large garden for playing in!

We allow well trained dogs but only one maximum per booking. All other pets, please enquire when booking.

We are just a 7 minute drive to Saltdean beach and Saltdean Lido, which offers free parking for the first two hours.
